If you've never been to SDCC, you just don't know what you are missing. Sometimes I have to pinch myself when I'm there. It's a weird feeling to be there, able to see so much of what is going on in the industry. People from all over come to this particular convention to experience it almost like a pilgrimage. The sights, sounds, and yes, even the smells (Can you say, "ew?") are memorable in ways which you won't soon forget. This year, I will be there a few days and I hope to make some good connections in the writing community.
(2015 Supergirl Cast Via Fanpop)
What's at the SDCC? People. People in costumes, or in fandom attire, and people from the industry, movie and television actors, producers, artists, and the like. The cosplay people are fun to see. The actors and writers are always exciting to meet and talk to. You can learn to make costumes, learn how to find your way in the community you're working in, like drawing, colorizing, inking, or even production of the comic books.
A few years ago I found myself in good company when I and my daughter, Kiwi, stumbled into a hall by accident. It happened that it was the debut of SUPERGIRL. We were able to see the cast and hear them speak about the project and even Melissa Benoist was there for comments and questions. Awesome.
Tonight is preview night. I'll be there with my iPhone to get pictures of whatever I see. Stay tuned. I will post the pics as the days go by.
